About the School?
Hanley
International Academy is a charter school that was
established in August of 2005. For the 2006/2007
school year we served students in grades K-6.
Hanley international Academy is committed to adding
one additional grade each year until we reach K-12.
For the 2008/2009
school year grades K-8
will be offered. As we grow we will eventually have
three campuses: an elementary school, middle school,
and high school.

Hanley
International Academy is a new charter school for
students in grades K-8 during the 2008-2009 school
year. (An additional grade will be added each
year.) Hanley International Academy is located in
Hamtramck, Michigan.

International Academy?
Charter schools are public schools of choice.
Hanley International Academy is an innovative public
school that operates under a contract or charter
from Grand Valley State University, Allendale,
Michigan.
How are students selected for Hanley
International Academy?
Enrollment for the 2008-09 school year is open to
students entering K - 8.
What if more students want to attend Hanley
International Academy than seats are available?
Hanley International Academy has established an
open admission period and widely advertised its
program. Hanley International Academy will accept
applications during the advertised open enrollment
time period. If more applications are received than
slots are available, a lottery will be held to
determine those whose applications are accepted. The
lottery will continue to establish a waiting list as
well.
What will be the daily schedule and school year
calendar?
The daily schedule at Hanley International
Academy will be 7:45 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. Monday -
Friday. The yearly calendar will contain at least
1,098 hours of instruction between September 2, 2008
and June 15, 2009.
